From Route 66 to Nationwide Protection: The Story of Alert 360
Celebrating the Route 66 Centennial and More Than 50 Years of Security Innovation
Long before Alert 360 became one of the nation’s largest providers of home and business security systems, the company started with a simple vision on one of America’s most iconic roads — Route 66.
In July of 1973, a small family-run security company called Guardian Security opened its doors on historic 11th Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma — a stretch of roadway famously known as the Mother Road.
More than 50 years later, that same company has grown into Alert 360, protecting homes and businesses across the United States while staying deeply connected to the values and community roots that started it all.
As America approaches the Route 66 Centennial celebration, Alert 360 is proud to reflect on a journey built on hard work, trust, innovation, and serving communities from Chicago to Santa Monica.

In this special video, Robert shares the history of Guardian Security, the evolution into Alert 360, and what it means to grow from a Tulsa security company into a nationwide security provider while never forgetting where it all began.
A Security Company Built on Tulsa Values
The story begins with family.
Robert’s stepfather was a successful salesman who was offered an opportunity to move to the East Coast. Instead, he chose to stay in Tulsa, Oklahoma, close to family and community. That decision ultimately led to the creation of Guardian Security on Route 66.
At the time, Robert was still serving in the military. When his enlistment ended, he joined the family business — helping build the company one customer at a time.
There were no massive advertising campaigns or nationwide marketing efforts in those early years.
The business simply grew through word of mouth, trusted service, and a commitment to protecting local families and businesses.
Those same values continue to shape Alert 360 today.
From Guardian Security to Alert 360 Nationwide
By the late 1990s, Guardian Security had grown to approximately 8,000 customers before the company was sold and eventually evolved into what is now Alert 360.
Today, Alert 360 serves customers coast to coast with:
- Home security systems
- Business security systems
- Smart home automation
- Video surveillance
- Active video monitoring
- Fire and life safety monitoring
- Access control systems
- AI-enhanced security technology
- 24/7 professional monitoring services
While the technology has evolved dramatically since 1973, the mission remains the same: helping protect people, property, and peace of mind.
Route 66 and the Spirit of America
For Robert, Route 66 represents more than a road.
It represents the real America.
Traveling Route 66 on his Harley-Davidson CVO Tri-Glide, Robert describes seeing the country in a way that few people experience today — from small towns and historic landmarks to communities filled with hardworking people and local businesses.
Alert 360 proudly serves customers throughout many of the cities connected by Route 66, including:
- Chicago
- Springfield
- Tulsa
- Oklahoma City
- Amarillo

As the Route 66 Centennial approaches, the road serves as a reminder of American resilience, entrepreneurship, and connection — values that have also defined Alert 360 for more than five decades.
